The art of marketing is an endless world of creativity and deception.
We use hundreds of techniques to attract society into becoming interested in our business, in the hopes that they will invest in the future. What pushes businesses, what encourages continuous creativity, what drives the competition of marketing. Money. We would love to admit that we have more morals (represented in our mission statements or represented in our voluntary actions) than truly relying on money, but the sad truth is that commercials are expensive. With the ongoing expansion of social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, we can introduce our product or service for FREE! Unfortunately, the only way to continue the broadcast while reaching a higher volume target market is to pay, pay, pay.
With upcoming Superbowl XLIX we all look forward to this years commercials. The only day I actually stay on the channel, instead of rapidly changing it after the show, is the first Sunday of February. The Superbowl is known for having tremendous advertisements from some of America's favorite companies. How famous these ads have gotten is only represented in numbers. According to USA Today, 78 percent of viewers watch the Superbowl for the commercials. As hard as it is to believe this, coming from a huge sports fan, I can only agree that some of the commercials are just too damn funny. Another astounding number is last years 30 second television slot was sold for $3.8 million dollars. This does not even include how much it cost to make the actual advertisement!!
Every year I look forward to the commercials of Bud Light. As one of my favorite companies to look forward to during the Superbowl, their new campaign "Up for Whatever" continues to spark my attention in this years commercials. This new campaign has a commercial where one of their consumers is filmed taking on their challenge. Recently I saw the ad where a man is put into a life size Pac Man course. The creativity of this commercial made me show my roommate immediately. Together we agreed that we wish we were him. Now I share it with you!
